Andres debunking Fitness myths.

I think there are a couple of misconceptions that are preventing people from having a pain-free, healthy body.

The first is that people think that movement is optional, that you can have a healthy life without a movement practice.

This is just not the case, if we were in another time, pre agriculture, I wouldn’t have to say this, because healthy movement would have been part of my life organically, but because we are so far away from the environment that saw us develop as a species for the last ca. 190.000 years, today we need a movement strategy.

The second misconception is that you need to go to a gym and wear special clothes in order to move and that 3 to 4 times a week of intense exercise will yield a pain free, healthy body.

This modern approach to movement does not correspond with the big picture. You see, we are shaping our bodies through the movements we do, every day. So for example, If I sit for a big chunk of time every day of my life, my body is receiving the signal to become very good at sitting.

Whether we realise it or not, our bodies are the result of our movement habits. You can’t undo a sedentary life just by going to the gym 3 to 4 times a week, you have to change your habits.

because we are so far away from the environment that saw us develop as a species for the last ca. 190.000 years, today we need a movement strategy.
